This automatically fills the background with the selected image. Changing backgrounds is made simple with the application to background feature that allows you to select an image and then apply it to the background. Icons and highlights give you a clear indication of when this is happening to avoid unwanted replacements. Each project starts with a blank canvas where you can upload images, add shapes and designs, or experiment with their pre-built templates to find something that fits the design you need.įeatures like image overlapping allow you to drag an image over the top of another and immediately replace it. I have not access to a Mac for detailed step by step instructions.Publisher offers a wide range of features that allow users to create a detailed or straightforward document. The second shows the General tab of my /File /Print dialog, the preview showing the effect of selecting 4 pages per sheet on the Page layout tab.Īs you are using a Mac, you should follow Mr Programmer's advices (or Keme's - there are also other Mac users) Selecting the Use OpenOffice print dialogs should give you a Print screen similar to that I illustrate. I attach two screenshots the first shows the Printer Properties, obtained by pressing Properties on the General tab of my printer dialog this shows the dropdown set for A4 paper. This all takes some getting used to: I recommend making a sample file of at least four pages to play with. If printing on heavier paper than standard 75/80 gsm, I would print 1-24, 25-48,49-72 etc I would print a book of several hundred pages by specifying the page ranges to print - 1-32, then 33-64, 65-96 etc (printing duplex). Typically one cannot staple a booklet of more than (say) 32 pages (8 sheets) unless one has professional equipment. When you go back to the General tab, you can select the page ranges you wish to print. If you have a duplex (automatic doublesided printer) there will be a setting to select to print single or double sided. On the Paper tab of the screen that opens check that A4 is shown as the Paper size, and that Orientation is Landscape. On that screen there should be a Properties button (to right below selection box for printers) The image should show two pages, on a horizontal A4 sheet, your original page size automatically reduced to fit on the A5 area, as you will see from the thumbnail image. One can print these direct from WriterĬheck Brochure (no need to specify "pages per sheet")ĭecide if you wish to print Front sides, back sides, or both. īut note: the reduced page images will not be in the correct order or orientation for folding if printed double sided.Įdit: For your normal brochure/A5 printing, you do not need to use PDF. If you do not require your pages to be imposed in the correct order for folding, you can easily do this using OpenOffice Writer /File /Print: go to the Page Layout tab and select "4 pages per sheet". If you wish, which I suspect, to print an A6 booket using A4 paper, so you have effectively 4 x A6 pages printed on an A4 sheet, this requires more complex software to get the page layout (technically: imposition) correct. If your printer can feed A5 paper, then one can (using the same methods) print A6 booklets, substituting A5 for A4, and A6 for A5 in your previous method. ![]()
